Police ID Verona woman killed in Penn Hills crash
Police have identified the woman who was killed in a car crash following a police chase Saturday night in Penn Hills.
The medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Kayla Johnson-Ukeyne, 25, of Verona.
According to police, officers spotted a sports utility vehicle driving on the wrong side of Verona Road just before 6 p.m.
Authorities said the officers tried to pull the SUV over, but the driver tried to flee from police.
After a brief police chase, the SUV crashed into Johnson-Ukeyne’s car at the intersection of Sandy Creek and Verona roads, officials said.
Police said Johnson-Ukeyne was killed on impact of the crash.
There were two women inside the SUV, whose names have not been released. They were taken to Allegheny County Jail.
